Quan Tao: Chariot Warriors

King Wu asked Tai Gong:
"What criteria should we use to select elite chariot warriors?"

Tai Gong replied:
"Choose those who meet these standards:

1. Age & Physique: Under 40 years old, standing at least 7.5 chi (≈172 cm).

2. Speed & Agility: Capable of outrunning galloping horses and leaping onto moving chariots.

3. Combat Mastery:

   • Fight fluidly in all directions—front, rear, left, right, above, and below the chariot.

   • Wield banners while maintaining balance.

   • Draw an eight-dan crossbow** to full tension and shoot accurately in every direction.

Such men are Chariot Warriors. Reward them lavishly, for they are the spearhead of your army."
