Balance of the Tao

The way of Heaven is much like drawing a bow.  
If the aim is too high, pull it down.  
If it is too low, raise it up.  
If there is too much, reduce it.  
If there is too little, add to it.

The way of Heaven takes from what has too much and gives to what has too little.  
The way of people is different: it takes from those who lack and gives to those who already have too much.

Who can take what is surplus and offer it to the world?  
Only one who follows the Tao can do it.

So the sage acts but does not claim credit.  
He completes the work but does not take the glory.  
He does not wish to show off his worth.
