Dialectics of Dao

Heaven and Earth last forever. The reason they can last so long is that they do not live for themselves. That is why they endure. So the sage puts himself last, and yet ends up first; he sets himself aside, and yet preserves himself. Is it not because he has no selfish motives? That is why he can fulfill himself.
