The harmony of yin and yang in the Tao

The Tao gives birth to One. One gives birth to Two. Two gives birth to Three. Three gives birth to all things. All things carry yin on their backs and face yang. The two forces of yin and yang push against each other and come into harmony. People hate to be called orphaned, lonely, or unworthy. Yet kings and lords use these very words for themselves. So in this world, things are sometimes increased when they are reduced, and reduced when they are increased. What others have taught, I also teach: The violent and ruthless do not come to a good end. I will make this the foundation of my teaching.
