Frugality of the Tao

In governing people and caring for body and mind, there is nothing better than being sparing and holding back.

To be sparing and holding back is to prepare early.  
To prepare early is to steadily accumulate virtue.  
To steadily accumulate virtue is to overcome everything.  
To overcome everything is to have no one able to measure the limit of your power.  
When your power is beyond measure, you can hold a country.  
Once you grasp the root of governing a country, you can last long.

This is the way of deep roots and a firm foundation, of long life and lasting endurance.
