Respect for the Tao

Those who truly know the Tao do not talk about it idly. Those who talk about it endlessly do not truly know it. Block the openings of the senses. Shut the doors of desire. Blunt the sharp edges. Untangle the confusion. Soften the glare. Blend with the dust of the world. This is called mysterious sameness. One who reaches this cannot be drawn close, nor pushed away. Cannot be benefited, nor harmed. Cannot be honored, nor humbled. That is why such a person is valued by the world.
