To keep filling something until it overflows is not as good as stopping in time. If you hammer a thing to make it sharp, that sharpness cannot last long. Even if gold and jade fill the hall, no one can keep them forever. To grow arrogant after gaining wealth and honor is to bring trouble on yourself. When the work is done, withdraw yourself—this is the way of Heaven.
