Chapter 34
The Great Tao flows everywhere. You can find it on every side.
All things depend on it to live, and it never turns them away. It gets the work done, but does not take the credit. It feeds and cares for all things, but does not act as their master.
Because it is forever free of selfish desire, it can be called small. Because all things return to it and it still does not act as their master, it can be called great.
And because it never makes itself great, it becomes truly great.
