The Return of the Way to Simplicity

If you stop exalting the wise and virtuous and throw away cleverness and scheming, the people will be a hundred times better off. If you give up man-made benevolence and righteousness, the people will return to natural family love—children caring for parents and parents caring for children. If you give up clever crafts and tempting profits, thieves and robbers will naturally disappear.

But these three are only surface decorations; they are not enough. So give people something solid to hold on to: reveal what is plain, embrace what is simple, think less, want less, and let go of showy learning. Then there will be no worry.
