The Usage of Tao

What is firmly planted will not be pulled up.  
What is firmly held will not slip away.  
By this, descendants will keep the family line and its offerings unbroken, generation after generation.

Cultivate the Tao in yourself, and your virtue becomes real.  
Cultivate it in your family, and your virtue becomes abundant.  
Cultivate it in your village, and your virtue becomes lasting.  
Cultivate it in your country, and your virtue becomes rich and full.  
Cultivate it in the world, and your virtue becomes universal.

So look at other people through your own person.  
Look at other families through your own family.  
Look at other villages through your own village.  
Look at other countries through your own country.  
Look at the world through the world itself.
